EQUIS confirms re-accreditation of ‘very impressive’ RSM
June 11 2009, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) has once again been accredited by EQUIS, the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. The decision of Brussels-based EQUIS on 2 June was based on a Peer Review conducted in February, followed by a consultation with 90 people from RSM’s management, faculty, supporting staff, students, alumni and corporate connections. RSM continues to be one of the few business schools with a triple crown of accreditations from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.
RSM is one of 117 EQUIS-accredited business schools in 34 countries worldwide. At the start of EQUIS in 1998, RSM was one of the 19 pioneer schools launching the EQUIS accreditation procedures and received a full accreditation period of five years. Following that inaugural accreditation in 1998, RSM was re-accredited in 2003 for a further five years. After another five years, RSM has just had confirmation of its third five-year EQUIS accreditation.
Commenting on the award, Dean George S. Yip says: “I’m really proud. The EQUIS team complimented RSM on its ‘very impressive’ international standing, especially compared to other business schools. They also said that they have never seen a school in which students as well as faculty members are so proud to be a part. They envied the high standard of research conducted here, and found the faculty management systems working extremely well. Moreover, they thought our mission to be a research-driven school is well understood by all stakeholders.”
“The Peer Review Team report also mentioned challenges facing RSM and included some recommendations” added Dean Yip. “We will carry out a comprehensive review to follow up these recommendations and ensure they are to the benefit of the whole school and its future development.”
